It offers college apprenticeship programs in the fields of Technology, Engineering and affiliated Sciences according to the present and future needs of the society. Anna University is split into six universities, namely, Anna University, Chennai(Guindy), Anna University of Technology,Chennai(MIT), Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore,Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirappalli,Anna University of Technology,Tirunelveli and Anna University, Madurai.

ANNA UNIVERSITY TIRUCHIRAPPALLI was formerly known as the School of Engineering and Technology ,Bharathidasan University and later Bharathidasan Institute of Technology (BIT) . In December 2007 it was changed to a affiliating university, where almost all technical universities in the southern part of the cover and absorb all of the Government of Tamil Nadu LKP as its constituent colleges. It contains five elements, HTL, 64 self-financing colleges, 10 MBA colleges, three schools of the MCA and the three universities of technology and architecture.
