TOTAL TELEPHONE SUBSCRIBERS IN INDIA- TRAI REPORT



Total Telephone Subscribers- TRAI Report:

The number of telephone subscribers in India increased to 899.78 Million at the end of August, 2011 from 892.55 Million at the end of July 2011, thereby registering a growth rate of 0.81%. The share of Urban and Rural Subscribers has remained same as in the previous month i.e. 66.27% and 33.73% respectively. With this,
the overall Tele-density in India reaches to 74.96 at the end of August, 2011 from 74.44 of the previous month.



OVERALL TELEDENSITY-TRAI REPORT:

The overall Urban teledensity has increased from 163.83 to 164.87 and Rural teledensity increased from 35.93 to 36.19
Subscription in Urban Areas grew from 591.49 million in July 2011 to 596.27 million at the end of August 2011. Rural subscription increased from 301.06 million to 303.51 million. The growth of Rural and Urban Subscription is 0.81%.

TOTAL WIRELESS AND WIRELINE SUBSCRIBERS IN INDIA - TRAI REPORT:

Total Wireless subscriber base increased from 858.37 Million in July 2011 to 865.71 Million at the end of August 2011, registering a growth of 0.86%. The share of Urban Subscriber has marginally decreased to 65.90% from 65.91% where as share of Rural Subscribers has marginally increased from 34.09% to 34.10%. wireless Tele density in India reaches 72.12.The Urbanthe overall wireless teledensity has increased from 156.59 to 157.76 and Rural teledensity has increased from 34.92 to 35.20.

Wireless Urban Areas increased from 565.71 million in July 2011 to 570.54 million at the end of August 2011. Rural subscription increased from 292.65 million to 295.17 million during the same period. This shows marginally higher growth in Rural Subscription (0.86%) than Urban Subscription (0.85%). subscription in The Urban wireless teledensity has increased from 156.59 to 157.76 and Rural teledensity has increased from 34.92 to 35.20.
