All the colleges which operate under Anna University Trichy is now handle By Anna University, Guindy as far as exam coordination and other procedures are concerned.This includes five constituent engineering colleges, 64 Self-Financing Colleges,10 MBA colleges, three MCA colleges and three colleges offering architecture.
In September 14, 2011 a bill was passed to merge back the universities

Anna University of Technology,Trichy with Anna University Madurai has been established as a Center of Technical University by the Government of Tamilnadu. The University has been functioning from 01-02-2007 at Tiruchirappalli(Trichy), which is famously known as Rock Fort city. The University is situated 17Kms away in the main highway of Tiruchirappalli to Pudukkottai. Besides 5 University Campuses there are 64 self financing Engineering Colleges, 10 Stand alone Institutions which offer M.B.A. courses, 3 Stand alone Institutions that offer M.C.A. courses and 3 Stand alone Institution that offer B.Arch - Architecture courses in the districts of Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Nagappattinam, Perambalur, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruchirappalli, and Tiruvarur, are affiliated to this University.
