ABOUT TRICHY:
 Trichy is the fourth largest municipal corporation in Tamil Nadu and also it is the fourth largest urban population of  the state.Trichy is located at the Heart-center of Tamil Nadu and hence forms the focal point of transport and communication.It is the convergence of the modernized and cultural population of the state of Tamil Nadu.Trichy is also called Tiruchi or Tiruchirappalli


EDUCATION IN TRICHY:
Trichy has long been called the educational center of South India.This is mainly due to the immense number of Colleges,Schools and Other Educational institutions in and around the city of Tiruchirapalli.The NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,TRICHY , famously known as NIT-Trichy which is also previously known as REC or REGIONAL ENGINEERING COLLEGE TRICHY is a well-known , highly valued engineering college.The St.Joseph's Trichy has long been known as a top arts college in India.It was here in St Joseph's Trichy that former President Dr . A.P.J Abdul Kalam had his U.G Degree.

HISTORY OF TRICHY:
The name Tiruchirapalli is believed to have been derived from the three-headed demon Trishira of the Hindu Mythology.Trishira is believed to have indulged in penance and obtained boons at this place.  Tiruchirapalli cities quite a number of historical monuments, the most note-worthy of these are the Rockfort and Thiruvanaikaval.Hence Trichy is also known as The RockFort City.

TRICHY IN RECENT YEARS:
In January 2010, Tiruchirappalli became the first city in India where open defecation is prevented in all its slums.New IT Parks where initiated in Trichy also in the year 2010 and the Famous National Institue Indian Institute of Management,the IIMs Hold in Trichy was also established in the same year.Thus the year 2010 has been very eventful for the town-city transient place of Trichy.
